Nomograms, sometimes called alignment charts, are graphical
calculators that are closely related to the old-fashioned slide
rule. They are particularly convenient in many practical situations
(e.g., engineering design calculations) because they limit
parameters to their useful ranges and they permit the display of
typical parameter values. The capacitive discharge nomogram shown
here depicts the relationships between charge Q, voltage
V, capacitance C, and capacitive energy
Ue.
You can draw a straight line on this
interactive nomogram by clicking and dragging the mouse and then
releasing the mouse button. You may re-draw the line as many times
as you wish; the line previously drawn will disappear. Values of
all four parameters for the line drawn appear at the
right.
