Robert C. Waag *received the B.E.E. and M.S. degrees in electrical engineering, and the P.h.D. degree in communications engineering, all from Cornell University, Ithaca, NY, in 1961, 1963, and 1965, respectively. He was a Member of the technical staff at Sandia Laboratories, Albuquerque, NM, and then, served as an Officer in the United States Air Force from 1966 to1969 at the Rome Air Development Center, Griffiss Air Force Base, NY. In 1969, he joined the faculty of the University of Rochester, Rochester, NY, where he is currently an Arthur Gold Yates Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, School of Engineering and Applied Science, and also holds an appointment in the Department of Imaging Sciences, School of Medicine and Dentistry. His current research interests include ultrasonic scattering, propagation, and imaging in medical applications. Prof. Waag received the Joseph H. Holmes Pioneer Award from the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine in 1992. He is a Fellow of the Acoustical Society of America and the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine.
